Shop the Island

Bridges Restaurant

I know it’s hard to believe with the recent dusting of snow and the minus 2 temperatures we’ve experienced of late, but Spring is just around the corner. Really! Once the temperatures warm up and the sun comes out, there really is no better place to spend the day in Vancouver than Granville Island, and, may we add, no better place to have a bite than Bridges Waterfront Bistro!

We love being a part of the Granville Island culture! We’ve seen it grow, change and evolve over the last 35 years, and we have to say, it’s never been better! The next time you’re on the Island, take some time to check out some of the great and highly unique shops! Here are a few that we think are especially interesting!
Granville Island Broom Company

We’re literally swept away by this great shop! The “Granville Island Broom Co. specializes in the art of handcrafted broom making. Sisters Mary and Sarah Schwieger learned to make brooms from their family while growing up in the Kootenay region of BC. The brooms are woven using Shaker methods and are designed to withstand years with regular use.”  We love this store as their brooms combine form and function in the most beautiful way! Charming and gorgeous!
Inukshuk Gallery

Whether you’re visiting Vancouver or you’re a  local, you’ll want to drop by this gallery! The “Inukshuk Gallery is dedicated to promoting Canadian and Native art: Northwest Coast prints and cedar carvings; Inuit prints and soapstone carvings; and Iroquois carvings and handcrafted jewelry.”

A mainstay on Granville Island, Beadworks carries “Swarovski crystal, semi-precious beads and pendants, seed beads, glass, wood, and bone beads.” This is a great place to bring the family and create!

Shop. Eat. Repeat
It’s truly a challenge to choose only three stores, as there are so many wonderful places to shop on Granville Island! Whichever shops you decide to visit, make sure you stop by Bridges for brunch, lunch, coffee and dessert or dinner! We look forward to being a part of your day on the Island!
